I'm leaving a comment because this inspired me to give a female OC of mine crooked teeth and moles. It also enlightened me that I have a long way to go with my character design, and I thank you for this!
god. yes ive been saying how the whole "monster in love with a woman" aka beauty and the beast trope is NEVER having the woman be the beast. its always the man. and the women love them despite what they look like because its the inside that matters, unless its a woman
I've been looking at IMFDB's page on Girls' Frontline and kept asking myself: Are there any T-dolls that appear to be 180+cm tall, broad-shouldered or unfeminine-looking in some other ways? And probably personifying some tiny handgun as well?
I've also been imagining some artist getting her female character art for a gacha game getting rejected by a suit for having insufficient hairlength, insufficient number of ponytails and hairbuns, "excessive" length of leg covering... I'm sure you get the idea.
as someone who makes mainly animal like characters, when they do not have an obvious gender marker people assume they are male. Like there is a default perception of any character and womanhood has to be stated to be considered.
i 100% agree and have been thinking about that lately, also about the opposite side of the spectrum: how men aren't allowed to be "beautiful" unless they're twinks or otherwise hyperfeminine. it's that super annoying binary view of gender, men = brutes / women = damsels.
God yes, i am really very annoyed be a perfect women, it is always like this, i am tired always skinny woman, always perfect hair, perfect skin. I want more diversity in all, hair, body...
so true...and even slight deviances from the norm (e.g. tall women, muscular women) often become a Category of Acceptable Woman rather than a true push for expanding possibilities on what a woman can do and be. women!
i know it's a "but in this game" comment but i would like to give a shoutout to the payday 2 community circa 2014, for telling the devs that female heisters should look like hardened criminals and not drop-dead-gorgeous babes. i suspect this stance is more popular than internet grifters would have you believe
